Stephen Partridge

Diocesan Director of Education

Stephen Partridge is the Bishop's Advisor on statutory education and is responsible to the Board of Education for the Church schools in the Diocese. He is based at Bouverie Court.

Stephen is secretary to the Diocesan Board of Education, the body that oversees the provision of Church schools in the Diocese. The Director has a statutory responsibility with matters concerning Church schools such as changes of status, creating new schools and academies and manages the schools team.

Stephen also co-ordinates a range of services to schools including advice on school administration, curriculum development (RE and CW), site development and the appointment of Head and Deputy Head teachers.

Stephen offers an important link by liaising with the Church schools and the three LAs (Northamptonshire, Peterborough and Rutland) in the Diocese as well as with the DCSF and the National Society.

Peter Goringe

Schools' Advisor & Deputy Director of Education

Peter Goringe draws on a wide range of experience to offer support for schools in a number of areas. He is based at Bouverie Court.

Peter advises schools about admissions and also oversees our Diocesan Appeals service. He also offers Voluntary Aided schools advice regarding their admission policies.

Peter works with schools on strategic management issues, including shared headships and federation, and advises governing bodies on their strategic vision as a church school. He is the point of contact for Local Authorities on School Improvement matters. Along with the Director, he is taking a lead in delivering our cyclic training programme for school staff and governors. Peter also advises governing bodies on the appointment of headteachers and deputy headteachers.

Peter represents the Board on the Admission Forum for Northamptonshire, Peterborough and Rutland. He is also taking a leading role in responding to the large-scale housing developments expected to take place across the Diocese over the next 10-15 years and is working with Stephen on the Academy programme.

Philip Davies

Schools' Improvement Officer

The Reverend Philip Davies supports Collective Worship and Religious Education teaching in schools, and conducts training for schools' CW and RE co-ordinators. This can be booked through the Education Office.

He also offers advice on the development of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education and development in schools and has helped to develop the Diocesan Expectations folders present in the Church schools of the Diocese.

Philip can also provide information and news on SACRE.

Christine Burnett

Schools' Support Officer

Christine Burnett works as PA to the Director of Education and supports both the schools and also the Education team. She is based at Bouverie Court.

Christine provides a vital support role from our office at Bouverie Court. She is the first port of call for all enquires to the Board Office and runs our Schools' Help Desk. She also co-ordinates school mailings and manages the diaries for the officers and manages the Denominational Inspection process.

Christine is working alongside Peter Goringe as the Diocesan Appeals Administrator, setting up appeals panels and co-ordinating the paperwork with parents, panels and the schools. Under the supervision of the Director of Education, she handles the foundation governor appointment process.

Christine co-ordinates the administration of training events and courses, handles event bookings and can be contacted for further information on bookings, agendas and venues.

Mark Bedford

Schools' Buildings Officer

Based at the Diocesan Offices in The Palace, Peterborough, Mark Bedford co-ordinates the school site development projects on behalf of the Board of Education.

He:
- Acts as the Building Contracts Manager
- Monitors the devolved capital to school for site developments
- Liaises with the DfE and applies for grant aid for Aided school capital
- Liaises with schools and consultants on school projects
- Co-ordinates applications for grant aid with the LAs
- Arranges the cash-flow for school building projects
- Monitors the school Asset Management Plans (AMPs)

The Board has an Approved list of Architects and Consultants which can be found in School Site Developments. All schools undertaking site development should submit designs for outline approval by the Board.
